General Info
Local Scholarships General Info
Local scholarships were handed out on February 2, 2024 and will be due by 4:00 PM on March 7, 2024, unless they have another due date noted on the application. We will not accept any late applications. If you expect us to turn in an application for you that must be mailed, you must turn in it a few days prior to the due date to allow time for it to get from our location to the receiving office through the mail. Do not bring the application to us on the due date and expect us to get it to an out of town location the same day. You will be responsible for taking care of getting your applications to the office where they are due if you choose to wait until the last minute. All applications must be turned in as completed paper copies. We will not accept any electronic copies through email, on USB drives, or through any other electronic means.
You have two options for completing scholarships this year:
- You can pick up paper copies in Mrs. Velek's room or the counseling office. Please complete them in blue or black ink.
- You can access the scholarships online. Most are in an editable PDF file, and you can type in your information. You will be responsible for printing completed copies of the scholarships. Pay close attention to directions. If there is a section that says to write in your own handwriting, make sure you do so.
The scholarship compendium lists the specific eligibility requirements for each local scholarship. Please note that there are some scholarships that are found in the compendium but not listed as editable PDF documents because the scholarship provider has asked that you complete the application in your own handwriting. Copies of these scholarships can be found in Mrs. Velek's room or the counseling office.
Make sure to follow directions and include any extra documents the application asks for. Please remember that neatness, spelling, and grammar are important when you are completing these applications. If you write on your applications instead of typing, use the same color ink throughout the application. Please see someone in the counseling department if you have any questions.
Please note that many of these documents are provided by outside agencies and may not be fully accessible. If you need assistance with any of these documents, please contact the YHS Counseling office.
